The Endless Summer Road Trip

Our theme song. *

In early September, Mike and I took a week long road trip through Oregon and California. Highlights of the trip included: the redwoods, San Francisco, Big Sur, and Crater Lake. I decided to dust off my Fuji instax camera for the occasion. It’s been awhile! I brought it to Morocco but only used it a couple of times. At this point, all of my film is a few years old… which makes it even more exciting to watch the photos develop. You never know what the images will look like.

Not all of the photos turned out, but here are the ones that did:

Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco

Big Sur from Bixby Bridge

Wizard Island and Crater Lake

It was fantastic way to bring summer to a close. Plus, I really do like showing off my pretty West Coast to my Ontario raised boyfriend.

*Ha, you know when you actually go read the lyrics then you’re like, “Wait, what??”

Instant Summer

It felt short.

I’ve been in Morocco for about three weeks* now and this past summer feels like so long ago. Like always, it was wonderful to see friend and family, and reconnect with my favorite corner of the earth.

I pulled out my instax camera and some partially exposed film. Here are a few instax photos from over the summer:

picking peaches with Jenny

Hannah and Allan at Molly’s wedding reception.

Annie and me at Molly’s wedding reception.

The perfect location for Molly’s wedding reception.

And a lost but then found photo of Joel from summer 2012

So good to be among the people you love.

*All is well. Just insanely busy.

Instant Eateries in Abu Dhabi

A random selection.A few nights ago I was sifting through photos on my computer looking for just the right one to wish Molly a “Happy Birthday.” In the process I came across a series of instax photos I completely forgot about. I don’t think there was any rhyme or reason at the time, but now I have a little collection of Mike, Molly, and me eating at random eateries in Abu Dhabi.

In an effort to post about somewhere other than Australia, here you go:

Konopizza at Madinat Zayed Shopping Center / I was so excited for this gimmicky pizza!
“The Russian Restaurant” / Could not tell you its actual name or how to get there, but it’s delicious.

Yogoday / Sampling all the frozen yogurt in the city for “research purposes.”

Saj 2 Go / Still crave a halloumi saj some days.

Forty Fruity / A classic choice. My favorite included strawberry, mango, guava, and avocado.

Instant Northwest

Home sweet home.

The past few days I’ve been thinking over the past few months with great fondness. I hesitate to say it was the best summer ever… but it’s definitely a favorite.

Here are a few instax photos from around the Pacific Northwest.

A rainy day at Long Beach, WA.
On the tracks near Teddy Bear Cove.

Instant L.A.

Los Angeles, California.

While we were in L.A. for our friends’ wedding, we did a little sight-seeing as well.  It turned out to be a pretty special part of our summer travels. Good friends + Mexican food, all you really need.

Hollywood.
On the Santa Monica pier.
 Classic palm trees.
Olivia Newton John’s star on the Walk of Fame.
A little donut stop.
The greatest double exposure of all time. Molly, Shera, and Mike crossed with a giant Coke bottle.
Taco run. (One of many).

Instant Canada

The True North*.

I managed to take a total of three trips to Canada this summer to see four** different provinces! Between visiting Banff with my mom, touring Ontario and Quebec with Mike, and participating in the Color Me Rad 5k, I’m feelin’ pretty neighborly.

Here are a few instax photos from across the border.

The delicious Orange Julep in Montreal, Quebec

*Despite Toronto actually being south of where I live in the States! Crazy, huh?
