From the Hip Friday

Barefeet.

Today’s photo from the hip is from the Glenelg area of Adelaide, Australia. Mike and I were spending one of the many hot days near the ocean breeze. These boys were walking ahead of us, joking, laughing, and just generally enjoying their day at the beach. No shoes in sight so you know they’re true Australians.

Character.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Mike. We spent a night camping at Platypus Bushcamp near Eungella National Park in Queensland, Australia. The proprietor of the camp was quite the character with his full beard, classic hat, and pet cockatoo. We couldn’t let the day pass without capturing his charm in a photo.

Thanks, Mike!

On the slopes.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Natalia at Always Trekking. Natalia snapped this photo on a ski run in Vermont on a chilly and icy day. I haven’t seen snow in so long… I don’t even want to imagine the frigid temperature!

Thanks, Natalia.

From up top.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Steph at 20 Years Hence. Steph snapped this photo while in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Instead of taking the photo from hip level, she raised her camera high above her head to achieve a new perspective.

In Steph’s words, “I like how the yellow road markings radiate outward, penetrating the thick parade of cars, and point out toward the skyscrapers, palm trees, and even the odd Colonial building on the horizon. KL can easily get you off balance as it is so bustling, which I think this photo nicely symbolizes.” I agree!

Thanks, Steph!

Seeing red.

Today’s photo from the hip comes from Edna at Expat Edna. Edna lives and works in Paris while pursuing a career in media and journalism. She shot this photo while walking down a famous snacking street in Macau. These women are the sample ladies… sounds like my kind of place! Of course I love the snacks, but I also love the overwhelming power of red.

Thanks, Edna!
